Fan favourite dynamic winger, with a knack for irritating the opposition, Levi Nelson has decided to retire from professional ice hockey.
A part of the Sheffield Steelers for 3 seasons, Levi quickly became a fan favourite; scoring twice in his debut against Braehead Clan in the preseason Holiday Inn Cup. Before going on to amass a total of 53 goals and 132 points across his time as a Steeler.
The winger was a key part of the always productive Nelson – Valdix – Dowd line, and will create another big gap for Thompson to fill following the departure of Valdix.
His time as a Steeler will be fondly remembered by many fans, but he truly forged his name into the Steelers history books by scoring the 2017 Playoffs Double OT winner to secure the Play-Off title in a nail-biting final.
Levi said “The decision to retire was a hard decision but at the same time it was an easy decision. I am ready and looking forward to the next chapter in our lives.”
Sheffield fans will undoubtedly wish him all the best for the future and can fondly remember his best moment below. But there’s no doubt that many a Nelson jersey will be proudly worn by fans around the arena.
