Blaze fans finally have something to be excited about – after a very quiet spell on the signing news front – the Coventry Blaze have announced a new signing.

Trey Lewis, the 25 year old Canadian D, standing at 6ft, and weighing in at 200lbs has been brought in to bolster the defense.

Head Coach Danny Stewart had this to say;

“We are very happy to get Trey signed up next season. He is a guy that will bring some added grit to our team and a boat load of character. He’s a winner. I’ve heard nothing but good things about his commitment to whatever club he’s been a part of.  He has played on top teams and Championship teams at both the junior and university level. ST.FX and UNB are two of the best university programs in Canada and he will have been well coached and drilled the right way.  I think our fans in Coventry are going to love this guy, his compete levels will be second to none.”

Boasting impressive stats from his junior and hockey league, including co captaining the Halifax Mooseheads, who lifted the Memorial Cup victory, and winning the QMJHL Championship both in the same season (2012/13)

  1. Trey bring a ton of energy to every shift, and hits hard, really hard. While his short-stride skating style is a bit unorthodox, he is quick on the ice. UNB had depth in defence last season, so Trey was used as a checking forward on the left wing. His line was miserable to play against. Previously at StFX he was a solid defenceman and team captain. Fighting is pretty much prohibited in university hockey, so I imagine Trey will be looking forward to be able to once again stick up for his teammates with all of his tools.
