Grubauer & Orpik to the Colorado Avalanche

BREAKING NEWS: Just announced by Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post has revealed that goaltender Philipp Grubauer and veteran defenseman Brooks Orpik will be going to the Colorado Avalanche.

In a big move by the Capitals and in exchange for a 2nd round 47th overall pick, the two Stanley Cup Champions are heading for Colorado.

This move will free up $5.5 million in cap space for the Capitals, which will give them plenty of movement on resigning defenseman John Carlson. Which they are expected to do.

The Avalanche have already said they will facilitate finding Orpik his optimal placing, meaning that the defenseman could move again before the summer is out.

The addition of Orpik to the deal meant that Colorado only had to give up one pick. The question is already being asked ‘who will get the alternate now Orpik is gone?’ Speculation at this time is that it will go to TJ Oshie or if he resigns, John Carlson.

We will continue to watch and see if Grubauer is in his final place, there is still chance he might move again.
