BREAKING NEWS: Just announced the Washington Capitals have come to terms with their star defenseman John Carlson.
As announced on Twitter a few minutes ago by Bob McKenzie, the Washington Capitals have agreed to an 8 year $8million AAV contract with John Carlson. The last few days have been fraught with rumours for the Capitals fans that the defenseman might not return for the 2018-19 season, but the deal is done. John Carlson will return to DC in the autumn.
This past season was the best one yet for the 28 year old, recording 15 goals and 53 assists for a total of 68 points. It is believed that the deal with Grubauer and Orpik was to clear cap room to make this deal. Re-signing Carlson was one of the key puzzle pieces that GM McLellan was keen to get in place.
