It‘s another beautifully hot day in the Land of the Giants, and with hot weather comes some news hot off the press! Let’s give a warm welcome to the newest member of the Belfast Giants, #10, Curtis Leonard.

25-year old defenseman Leonard is coming to Belfast after playing for the ECHL’s Wayne Komets, having previously played five games with the Reading Royals that were split over two seasons, and four years with NCAA hockey’s RPI. During his time with RPI, he was the highest scoring defenseman over the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. In his final year with RPI, he was given the title of Team Captain. Leonard also played junior hockey with the Wellington Dukes of the OJHL.

A good friend of current Giant, Darcy Murphy, Leonard made his professional debut with the AHL’s Rochester Americans in the 2014/15 season for one game only. Notably, in the 2017/18 season, Leonard was awarded ‘Best Defensive Defenseman’ by the Professional Hockey Players League, with his +34 rating being second best in the ECHL.

Welcome to Belfast, #10! We look forward to seeing you on our ice.
