A huge issue faced by Chicago in the 2017-2018 season and part of the reason they finished with arguably their worst record in history came because of their injury problems.
When Corey Crawford was injured and scratched for the season it seemed that the Blackhawks would be able to fill the void with backup Jeff Glass or Anton Forsberg who they had acquired in the trade for Artemi Panarin.
This did not go to plan.
The Blackhawks were bleeding losses and signed Jean Francis Berube as a free agent to help with the goaltending crisis. He managed to finish the season with a record of 3-6-1 with a .378 GAA and a .894 save percentage.
Sending him to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for minor league Jordan Schroeder who is an AHL player at best having had weak runs at Vancouver, Minnesota and Columbus.
The Blackhawks are in the market for a solid backup for the Crawfish and the name on everyone’s lips is Cam Ward who can sign as a free agent in July.
