Coventry Blaze continue to bolster the D line with another strong import signing.
The 26 year old Norwegian joins only days after it was announced that Blaze had also lost two more defence men Alex Minor-Baron and Vojtech Kloz.
Nicolai joins from HC Dukla Jihlava, of the Czech Elite League or “Extraliga”. where he iced 43 times, with 6 goals and 6 assists. He has also iced in 44 international games, with 3 goals and 6 assists.
Blaze Social media had Nicolai announcing his own signing through a twitter take over. During which he described himself as an offensive defence man, who likes to have the puck;
And also prefers a good sweeping block rather than drop the gloves;
Seems that the Stewart has found his D man Yin-yang between Nicolai #33 and Trey Lewis #7. Stewart had this to say about his new signing;
“In Nicolai we get a two-way guy that skates very well. He is a great puck moving defenceman that will play in all situations. Although last season he played a different role in the Czech Extraliga, his whole career, he’s been an important part of his team’s powerplay, and led his team’s defenceman for point-scoring several times at good levels which shows his ability. He brings some needed mobility at the back and he comes to us still at a very good age. We’re delighted to have him.”
Blaze fans will be pleased to see that the signings have finally started to come through.
