Blaze continue their streak of impressive signings, with a huge announcement that they have signed Alex Nikiforuk.
The 5’8″, 34 year old Canadian has spent the last season with Epinal as an Associate Captain, with 45 points for 44 games, gaining him his first ever All Star selection.
However, many Blaze fans will distinctly recall Nikiforuk for his time at the Nottingham Panthers in the 16/17 season, with 32 points in 51 games, and more notably, gaining 11 points in 7 competition games, to help the Panthers become the first British team to win the IIHF Continental Cup.
Danny Stewart, who seems to be pulling quite a few surprises out of the bag, had this to say about the new signing;
“We wanted to add some skill and experience to our line-up and we have ticked both of those boxes with Alex. He is a point producer. He’s a guy that sees the ice well, is very crafty and creates offence. What I also like about Alex is his compete levels. He’s gritty and plays in those hard areas and excels in them. He will bring passion and leadership on top of everything else and be looked upon to play an integral role in our team’s success.”
Again, the Coventry Blaze Media team continue to set the bar for signing announcements, with this announcement coming via the talented artist Rebecca Thompson;
With the roster list becoming fuller with new signings, Stewart looks to be approaching next season with a refreshed approach. There is still no imminent news of the Pietrus contract deadlock coming to a close.
