Coventry Blaze announced earlier today the signing of Canadian forward Kelin Ainsworth.
Danny Stewart continues to add to his promising collection of forwards with the addition of Ainsworth.
The 26 year old Canadian national has spent the last season in the Hungarian Erste Liga with the Fehérvári Titánok, his first pro season, where he iced 32 times, scoring 17 goals and assisting 36, at 53 points which was the league leading score.
Prior to this, Kelin was in the University League, USports, where he iced 109 times with 38 goals and 52 assists.
Stewart had this to say about the new signing;
“Kelin comes to us at a great age. He’s a passionate player who is hungry to get better. On the ice he will bring a lot of pace up the middle for us. He is a very smart player with great playing making ability, but can score as well. He’s a good special team’s guy, but also plays the right way off the puck. He thinks the game well and that’s important. Leading your league in scoring in your first year pro is not something to be ignored either. I think we will see a guy that leaves his heart out on the ice. And the more of those the better.”
Kelin spoke about who he is as a player;
“I am a skilled forward who has offensive upside. I think the game very well, I use my speed and my hockey sense to create offensive opportunities while also worrying about both the offensive and defensive side of the game. I am an extremely passionate player and love the game, I am always looking to improve and look forward to making an impact in Coventry this year.”
If the highlight reel, and his self review is anything to go by, Kelin is going to create a real spark for the Blaze;
The Blaze Media team continue to excel in their announcement methods – with an excellent video of head Coach Danny Stewart signing Kelin on Eastside Hockey Manager;
We look forward to more Blaze announcements, not only for the new player news, but also to see how they’ll announce it next!
