DOUBLE SWOOP IN TO KIRKCALDY

The Mercedes Benz Fife Flyers have made two signings, winger Brett Bulmer and defencemen Rick Pinkston.

Brett Bulmer is a 6 foot 4 inch winger he was drafted in round two by the Minnesota Wild.

Bulmer played for Prince George Cougars Bantem A1 in 2006-07 before moving to the Cariboo Cougars for two seasons, then he moved on the WHL and the Kelowna Rockets for three. From the start of the 2011-12 season Brett has played most of his hockey in the AHL with Houston Aeros or the Iona Wild and in the NHL with the Minnesota Wild he has also had a spell in Liiga in Finland and the DEL in Germany before last year playing in the ECHL for the Florida Everblades where he totally 42 points in 70 regular season games and 13 points in 20 playoff games. He is Physical player who likes to agitate something the Flyers have not had since Jordan Fulton.

Brett said on his move to Fife “I can’t wait to get to Fife and help my team succeed, super excited about the group we have and the opportunity. We want to bring a winning culture. I want to be an important piece and to be a leader and a great teammate”.

Head coach Todd Dutiaume said “Brett is an exciting addition to our line-up. He adds size and much needed grit to our right side along with offensive capability that will flourish in our league.

He brings to us a wealth of experience and we are excited to see how this group perform together in a few short weeks.”

Today’s signing is 6 foot 1 defencemen Rick Pinkston,

Rick played for Little Caesars under 16’s and 18’s before moving to Tri-city Storm where he played three seasons and in his final season there was named the Captain. He then moved on the NCAA and Dartmouth college for four years. Since then most of his career to date has been played in the AHL where he played 35 games and in the ECHL where he has played 130 games.

Rick had this to say on his move to Fife “I have heard nothing but good things about both the organization and fans in Fife. In seeing the success of last year’s team and the players who have already signed on for the upcoming season, I am excited to get the season started”.

Assistant coach Jeff Hutchins had this to say “Rick is a solid all round d-man. He is responsible in the d-zone and has the ability to jump up in the rush when required, All the references that have come back have been positive and we feel that we’ve brought in a good character guy in the room, he comes to us as someone who has won championships and we will be looking for him to bring that winning mentality and experience to Fife.”
