Last Wednesday night (in North America that is), there was a hockey game played in which Flyers jerseys were donned! As NHL rookie camps are underway, the Flyers’ rookies squared off against the NY Islanders’ rookies in East Meadow, New York. The match ended 6-3 in favor of the young Flyers, with Oskar Lindblom scoring a hat trick.
While this game does not have any effect on the season, it was nice to see the Flyers win, and to see hockey played with Flyers uniforms on full display. It was also interesting to see how some of the more blue-chip prospects performed. While Lindblom is almost certainly making the team, his hat trick only served to enforce his skill and ability to dominate oppositions.
Morgan Frost and Carter Hart also played in this game. Frost tallied 3 points, scoring a goal on the powerplay, while Hart looked solid despite letting in three first period goals. The Flyers’ main training camp starts on Friday as veteran players will join up with some of the young prospects.
