The hometown hero and back-up netminder for the Manchester Storm has left the club with immediate effect, which leaves the current roster with just one available netminder, Matt Ginn (excluding Jindrich Pacl who is still registered but not living in the UK). An academic outside the rink, Ryan has accepted a new role as a lecturer at the University of Northampton.
Ryan made three EIHL league apperances, which included a somewhat controversial start on the final weekend of last season that all but ensured Glasgow (then Braehead) Clan wouldn’t make the play-offs, during his 18 month stint with the club and was an ever present figure on the team bench.
The search for a new back-up goaltender begins, with young local goaltender Luke Owen-Wilson the most likely candidate at this point in time. More news to follow when a replacement is signed.
