After a a bitter weekend that saw the Fife Flyers only manage to take away two points out of a possible six in week 9 of Elite League action, week 10 is shaping up to be slightly brighter with a road win away to Cardiff already in the books and another 2 points will be up for grabs on Saturday 10th as the Flyers take on Manchester Storm.
The Fife Flyers face some stiff competition in week 9 of EIHL competition with one home game against the Belfast Giants on Friday and hitting the road to face off against Manchester Storm on the Saturday and Coventry Blaze on the Sunday. Fife have faced off against all three of these teams and have the opportunity to earn the 6 points and keep them firmly in the number 1 spot.
This weekend past, the Fife Flyers welcomed the Coventry Blaze and MK Lightning to the Fife Ice Arena. It would see the Flyers taking away 3 league points to put them on top once more.
It was always inevitable that the Fife Flyers glorious win streak of 8 games undefeated in league competition would come to an end at the hand of the Cardiff Devils. There is a reason they are back to back EIHL champions. However one streak ends and another will begin as the Flyers welcome Coventry Blaze and MK Lightning to the Fife Ice Arena for the first time this season.
The Fife Flyers knocked the Nottingham Panthers off the top spot and claimed it as their own, bringing their stats to 8 – 0 – 1. Though the Flyers may be sitting at the top of the table for a day with the Giants and the Panthers only trailing by a point it’s still time to savour.
With six wins in seven games, Fife have had the best start to the the season that they could have hoped for. However, with success always comes tests and this week the Flyers will face their first greatest test in the form of Sheffield, Nottingham and Cardiff.
