The Cardiff Devils began their Champions Hockey League campaign in much better fashion than they did last year.
They were made to look silly in their opening game last year which ended in a 10 – 1 scoreline to HC Davos in the Valiant Arena in Switzerland, before picking up a second loss days later against Bili Tygri Liberec of the Czech Republic, in a 5 – 2 loss. But we all know what happened when the Welsh side returned home, picking up shock wins against Davos and Sweden’s Växjö Lakers.

The Winnipeg Jets have put pen to paper on a new five-year deal with team captain Blake Wheeler worth a reported $41.25 million.
His new deal will kick in for the 2019-20 season, increasing his cap hit from it’s current $5.6 million hit, to $8.25 million.
Wheeler was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season, but instead will lead the team through what looks to be an incredibly exciting time for the Jets organisation, as many of their young stars are hitting their prime.
