Devils come up against hot goalie in opening game of the Champions Hockey League

Coming into this years Champions Hockey League, the Devils couldn’t have asked for much more of a tough group to be drawn into.

After facing Vaxjo Lakers, Bili Tygri Liberec and HC Davos last year, the test is even tougher this year as they face two teams who like themselves are back-to-back league champions in the Vaxjo (who they managed to beat at home last year) as well as SC Bern.

The other side, Red Bull Salzburg may not be the Austrian league reigning champions, but they’re not far off it. The past two seasons they’ve finished as runners up, the three years before that? They were back-to-back-to-back champions. It’s a tough group.
