Liam Kirk reaches 25 OHL points in last game before World Juniors

In the Peterborough Pete’s 39th game of the season, Liam Kirk notched his 25th point in another stellar performance for the British winger as they took on the Mississauga Steelheads.

Coming into the game, Kirk was on 23 points with 13 goals and 10 assists, after an impressive turn of form for the recently turned 19-year-old after he went on a lengthy scoring drought early in his OHL career.

Liam Kirk shines for Peterborough

The Peterborough Petes took to the ice at home on Sunday afternoon for a meeting with the Ottawa 67s, with newly acquired Ryan Merkley making his debut after a huge trade brought him over from the Guelph Storm.

Peterborough we’re looking to bounce back from a crushing 6 – 1 loss to Guelph on Friday, where Cameron Butler grabbed the loan goal for Rob Wilson’s men.

Huge trade brings top prospect to Liam Kirk and the Peterborough Petes

We’ve brought you many a story about how Liam Kirk has been doing in his debut OHL year for the Peterborough Petes.

While we’re obviously going to try and spin this article to focus on the nations hockey sweetheart, it’s more about his newest teammate.

The Peterborough Petes have completed a trade with the Guelph Storm (who they actually faced hours after the trade was announced, ending in a 6 – 1 victory for Guelph) with the Petes sending one player and a bunch of draft picks to the Storm for just one player.

Highlight reel goal in another two goal performance for Liam Kirk

Following a huge 8 – 2 win over the Kingston Frontenacs, the Peterborough Petes prepared for their first game in less than 24-hours with a meeting against the Erie Otters on Saturday night, before taking on the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

The Petes entered the meeting with five wins in their last 10 games, while Liam Kirk had seven points in his last eight games since snapping a 13-game pointless streak.

Two goals for Liam Kirk in huge win for the Petes

After a tough weekend saw the Peterborough Petes on the wrong end of big score lines against the London Knights and Sarnia Sting, they faced the Kingston Frontenacs at home with a chance to bounce back on Thursday night.

It was the third meeting of the year between the two sides, with the Petes picking up wins in the first two encounters with a 4 – 0 in their season opener, as well as a 4 – 3 win on November 2nd.

Kingston entered the matchup just days after completing a blockbuster trade with the Niagara IceDogs, sending forward Jason Robertson and defenseman Jacob Paquette to the IceDogs and receiving two players back and a staggering 11 draft picks between 2019 and 2024, with the pick in 2024 meaning the player the Frontenacs will take with that pick is currently nine-years-old, and losing Robertson means they traded away their leading scorer who had 23 goals in 24 games for the team.

Liam Kirk impresses in overtime win for Peterborough

The Peterborough Petes survived a scare against the Owen Sound Attack, eventually taking a 4 – 3 win in overtime with a little help from Liam Kirk who assisted on the game winner.

Kirk was impressive throughout the game, and was unlucky not to see his name on the scoresheet in regulation.

Coming into the game, Kirk was placed on the teams second line alongside winger Cameron Butler, and centreman Erik Čermák, who was the Petes other Import Draft selection this year.

Liam Kirk snaps lengthy point drought in overtime win

Liam Kirk snapped a lengthy point drought in the Peterborough Petes 3 – 2 win over the Oshawa Generals last night.

Coming into the game without a point in 13 straight games, Kirk added an assist to his name just 30 seconds into the second period.

After the Generals took an early lead through Kyle Bollers who scored his first goal of the year, but the Petes tied things up early in the second.
